About BPWUK
Why are we here?
Business and Professional Women UK - generally known simply as BPWUK - is a women's organisation that encourages women to
make a real difference in their community and beyond and to
realise their full potential in the workplace and outside.
We do so through building strong networks that help professional and businesswomen develop themselves and their careers, that are connected at the highest levels of UK and international policy-making.
Founded in 1938 BPW UK has a strong record of advocacy in employment, finance, education, health, and human and legal rights and was a very
active campaigner and lobbyist for the Equal Pay Act of 1970 and the Sex Discrimination Act of 1975.
Today
we
continue to work towards equal pay, women's economic sustainability and and
encouraging more women on boards.
We're also here to have fun, of course!

As well as real fellowship, friendship, networking and support, we give UK professional women the chance to make a real difference to womens' lives across the globe through lobbying and advocacy, via BPW International’s consultative status with UN agencies, the European Women’s Lobby , the Council of Europe and many other local, national and international bodies.
